This idea that people just want to collect unemployment and lay around is only partially true. I can't stand the broad sweeping generalizations out there that everyone that collects UE benefits is lazy. UE benefits does hold back the recovery in a way, but this is an unusual circumstance. This is the worst recession since the 1930's, or early 80's.
I have applied for so many positions across the board, most of which I'm over qualified for. I was rejected from Lowes, Home Depot...you name it. I'm 33 years old and in direct competition with college graduates and people that have less skills/education.
I don't have a CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) or (MBA) so I'm at a real disadvantage. Sorry I don't have engineering degree, but in hindsight I probably should have chosen something that would have been more stable. Hindsight is 20/20 and who would have though the economy would have turned to be this bad?
Personally, I'd rather see our gov. bail out it's citizens than more corporate welfare or bailing the corrupt private banking cartel that does nothing but drain wealth from the working class so they can speculate with it. Casino capitalism at play. If this country would Nationalize the Fed, and gov. would spend money on productive goods and services, there would be less of an issue, especially regarding inflation. The system has failed and it will continue to fail until we see more Public Bankings, state and National.
I have always had a job since I was 15 years old. Worked 20 hours a week while @ college. I now know why people get discouraged from looking for work. It's mentally draining and can really be depressing. Of course some people abuse the system. Humans are lazy by nature. It's human nature to not want to work. That doesn't mean everyone is like that.
It's NO use buster, since they just are incapable of comprehending that some people live outside of the 'farm belt' (and cannot even afford to move), and that there are NO, NONE, NADA, ZERO jobs doing "hauling dirt/garbage, gardening, fix-it man, painter, etc." in some areas.
There are already waaayyyy too many doing those things for less than it would cost for the fuel/costs involved, AND one is risking their LIFE by trying to 'muscle in' and/or undercut the ones already established.
How about we just bring manufacturing jobs back to THIS country for a change, by whatever means necessary, EVEN if it means going against some 'principles' that would make it "unpleasant/uncomfortable" for those of some certain viewpoints.
Then we would not even be having this discussion, correct?
