A/C Compressor Noise

Hello everyone,

I have a/c compressor noise (groaning sound, bad vibration) whenever i crank up the engine when is cold every time. I also can hear vibration noise n feel vibration through steering wheel. What happen is when engine get warm I can't hear loud groaning noise but I can hear sound like vibration noise this is when a/c belt is still there n why I'm saying this is because by the time I get to my buddy house he can't hear loud groaning noise because engine is warm also can't hear bad vibration, but he can hear less vibration. So he said let take off ac belt n we did no more vibration.When I took off the a/c belt, I felt better than before for ex; less vibration through steering wheel n no noise I think.

I was thinking to bypass the a/c belt n disconnect ac compressor plug. Will I be okay? I don't want to damage anything else if I bypass it.

When I'm driving I never used ac in the summer also I never used heater in the winter. The only time I used that is when I have parent with me. If I put a new ac compressor in summer what can I do prevent this from happening again?

Have you checked to see if the noise is present when the compressor CLUTCH is engaged, or NOT engaged. There are bearings in the compressor itself, AND in the clutch assembly. When the comppressor is "on" to cool the car the bearings in the comprressor CLUTCH are locked to the shaft. Your compressor may be fine but the clutch bearings may be worn since THEY are the ones under load most of the. When the AC is OFF, only the clutch bearings will be loaded. You don't have to buy a new compressor when it's just the clutch which is worn. Does that belt drive anything else?

Get it checked out by an expert. When a compressor goes bad, if it's not the clutch, it can and will distribute metal throughout the system when you run the a/c!

When I turn my ac on it shake worse than before. That belt also control alternator.

The noise present neither way ac compressor is engaged or not.

For now I can bypass ac belt n leave ac compressor plug disconnect Until summer. Correct?

How can I find this out by myself, I mean what do I look for?

You stated that you have an AC compressor noise.
This may or may not be true.
Yanking belts, electrical connectors, etc, can help determine the source.
