Drove up to Petaluma this morning to clean the gutters, rake, leaf blow, etc.
Maybe 7:30 AM on 280 above Palo Alto, where cars fly, I spotted a Viper coming up in the fast lane... Behind him was a pair of yellow-orange oval headlight outlines like a modern Dodge that turned out to be a beautiful '67 Camaro with a raised hood; what a wonderful sound.

I wanted to put our car into Insane mode and play... We were cruising close to 90 mph. Beautiful cars!

Those two in particular likely have to fill up more often than you have to charge 😀

The Camaro sounded like a BB with headers; it had some squared off turbos and turn downs just past the rear. Depending on gearing, he might run outta steam. Who knows. But it was such a well done car, period.

The Viper, with its 10 cylinders and 6 speed probably had a ton of leg left.

The new MP3, with (some say) 600+ HP, in Insane mode, 87 to 110 comes in an instant...

It was easily 5 miles of temptation and beauty in the early morning with the 3 of us on the open road.
We behaved ourselves.

So if you didn't engage Insane mode and FSD and let it rip why have it??
I just don't drive that way. I (mostly) follow the laws of the road. If something happened at that speed, it could be bad.
The most I do is occasional short bursts. I know how fast a 10 second car is.

I bought the car because I wanted it. Gotta get groceries and stuff, right?
I came to enjoy our 1st Tesla, the '18 Mid Range, far more than I imagined. I've posted how the cars fit my use case many times. I will say I am probably happier with this car than any other I have owned.

To each their own. If I want a 1967 Camaro with a Reher Morrison built 555 C.I. 5 speed Liberty transmission that's my choice. If I wanted a Tesla (I don't) I would have it. As far as the Camaro, if I built it that way I wouldn't give one thought as to MPG.

I can tell you that the stock gas tank capacity in a stock VX I last gen Viper, is insufficient to run the entire length (90 miles) of the Silver State Classic Challenge, in the unlimited class. To say nothing of the fuel capacity needed when you add forced induction and an additional 400 rear wheel hp and torque.

I don't see too many Vipers anymore. But the 3 of us, scanning so many years, was really fun cruising at speed for miles.
You will always see beautiful cars up there; these were a nice alternative. There is a group of Panteras I've seen. The rare Lotus Europa, so low, is an incredible sight. Early weekend mornings are the best.

No doubt you like your rides... now do something with that concrete to match, bwahaha.

Most Vipers were modified, raced and destroyed over the years.

Nice cars but the V-10 era long over.

All I can tell you is, seeing the Viper and Camaro coming up was exciting and the 3 of us cruising along close to 90 in the early morning CA sun was heavenly. Just good car stuff.

I my experience it's always been rare to see a Viper, just one of the reasons we really enjoy ours. We have two V10 powered vehicles, and both are fun toys with manual transmissions, only taken out on nice days.

The most exotic cars I've ever seen just used as everyday transportation, was in Carmel, and the Monterey peninsula.

No kidding. Perfect 356C, Italians, you name it.
