'99 Ranger pickup with 250k...Should I buy it?

Different motor mounts could just mean that the originals were worn out, not necessarily that the engine has been replaced.

In either case, $2500 is too much with that many miles. I'd pay $1500 with no rust. $800 with rust.

Don't get me wrong, they are great trucks, but your friend is asking too much. Rangers are everywhere. You can find a better deal.

Recognize the price guides for what they are: guides, all with a built in bias. KBB in particular reflects what dealerships are asking in pricing - not what people are paying, and that is a big difference.

I tend to find true pricing somewhere between Edmunds and NADA, with it being closer to edmunds.

Better not to lose a friend over it. Just say "no, thank you".
