I'm not going to ask how much, or how to, I already know the answer to that. I do have two other questions though.
My FIL's '98 F250 LD (F150 on a heavy frame and 7 lug) has a slipping 4R70W again. last time I did a filter and drain & fill X4 pumping from the cooler line. Its been working great for about a year, but it slipped yesterday. He is going to get another truck and asked if I want the F250.
What I want to do is go to the wrecking yard and get a manual trans, flywheel, clutch, starter, pedal assy, etc to swap in.
1.
Does anyone know what trans bolts behind the Ford Modular OHC V8 (4.6 i think)? I would like to swap in a transfer case at the same time for another phase of the modifications. If anyone knows what transmission/transfer case/truck models to keep an eye out for I would surely appreciate it. The more HD the better.
2.
Keeping in mind that the slushbox is dead and I want to swap in a manual, what experiment/remedy would you all rather see or expect to have the better chance of helping limp it along awhile.
A. Universal tractor fluid
B. Type F
C. Other cheap non-approved fluids
I am not interested in additives.
