Just got this car, a 98 camry 4cyl.All lights flicker, like a steady pulse.I've replaced the alt and the battery,no luck. The battery light will stay on for a few minutes after i turn it on,even if i rev it up to 1500.If I hit the brakes or use the turn signal, the stereo turns off and on really quick. If i do this with the headlights on,the headlights dim a good amount.I've already cleaned all engine grounds, batt cables look good.Kick panel grounds cleaned and checked.HELP!!! lol

Have you popped out the entire fuse panel under the hood? You gotta use a 10mm wrench. Make sure every connection under there is tight, and none look burned. Don't be afraid to pop the bottoms off the underside of that panel to get a good look. Get a test light and test all fuses, even if they look fine.

Nick beat me to it!

I was going to suggest a cheap multimeter off ebay and a Bentley or a Haynes for its wiring diagram.

Half a day at the most

I had a similar problem with my import ,,,,Carefully inspect your brake light bulbs ( and all other bulbs )---I had a bulb that where the filament collapsed and was making a direct short in the electrical system

Unplug the alt for a minute and drive around just on the battery. Bet this will fix it. Suspect your alt has a bad diode.

BINGO!!! I think this was it.The plastic from the connectors under the block looked like they got hot enough to melt onto the metal they bolted on to.One or 2 were loose and i tightened them up.I drove around for a while and no more symptoms!!! Thanks,Nick!!!!

No problem! I have the same car and changed the timing belt. Stupid me didn't disconnect the battery and the alternator positive that leads to the battery grounded on the exhaust and I didn't think much of it. Alternator fuse blew and I had to take out that panel and unscrew the fuse. My symptom was no instrument cluster.
