98-'07Corolla ,Prizm, Matrix,Vibe owners using syn

has anyone owning 1 of these vehicles and using a full snythetic or a syn blend oil notice their temp gage needle drop a bit ?

I'm using havoline syn. I can't really say, but it's not in the "middle" when fully warmed up.

our 2000 Chevy PRIZM's ( now VIBE

) temp needle was in the middle when using regular 5w30 , since switch to MOBIL 1 5w30 at 74,000 mis. the needle has dropped a bit and takes little longer to reach that point . Oh , did have a 2003 MATRIX ( very dependable ) ,traded in for a 2006 XB , then a 2007 PRIUS . Thanks

what brand of syn-oil have you used in your VIBE ? MOBIL 1 5w30 ?

on PRIUS issue , supposedly would use 1.8 ltr. coupled w/ the lithium batteries for plug in ( don't hold me to this ).The 1.8 ltr. may also have the aluminum pistons which are being introduced in the new SCION XD , so would wait a year to see if any issues on new model . Also , it could cost an addtional 3,-4,000 dollars ( another hear - say ).Hopefully the '07's book value won't drop to much by then too . Lots of factors . Too bad TOYOTA didn't produce cystal balls to foresee the future of the auto world .

Maxlife and QS's 'Q Advanced Engine', both 5w30.

Let me help you understand the subject ,the engine has a thermostat that regulates the coolant temps. Oil will not change the coolant temps.

the thermostat reacts to the coolant as it heats from within the engine block from the walls in which there are cylinders that contain pistons that generate heat as pass thru these walls , in which the claimed slicker synthetic would cause less friction ( heat ) of the metal / aluminum walls slowing the opening of the thermostat that reacts to the coolant that flows to and through it .
