Just bought a used 97 Blazer with V-6, auto, 4x4 with 100K on it.
I changed the oil to one of my favorites, Citgo 5W-30 from the valvoline 10W-30 that was in there year round according to previous owner. He did routine 3K OCI's and never indicated a problem. Regular 30K ATF Flushes, without filter swaps I assume since it was all done by a quick change place.
First, Does anybody have any knowledge of these things having any oil related problems like sludge or breaking down the oil fast or anything like that. Same thing with the ATF, any issues to be aware of that could be solved with good lubes?
I intend to leave this a dino oil vehicle and use my dino standbys of either Citgo, Havoline or Chevron, and do 3K OCI's since this vehicle will do a million short trips a year without getting warmed up.
