93 Civic modded as DD

That looks really clean for a Civic hatch of that age. The body also isn't riced out, and aside from the steering wheel, neither is the interior.

Also, in that last picture it has new NY plates and a 2013 due date inspection sticker, not a 10-day temporary sticker one gets with a new registration. While that's not conclusive evidence it's not a hack job, it does suggest that it did/does run well enough to make it through inspection for another year.

I'd check it out. It's giving off more good vibes than bad vibes.

this is a joke right? yes can be registered.

Not at all...in this state (and many others), no airbag means the plates get pulled on the spot and you walk home.

The 93 Civic did have a driver's side airbag from what I've read. I'd want it back in place before driving.

My dad has a GM drivetrain in a Chevy shell, and I drive a Ford with a Mercury engine. I drove a Suzuki with a Mazda badge. What's your point? These swaps have been going on for decades. I see this the worst way possible, and the best way.

1. The guy just wanted a reliable car. Engine was dead/dying, and a B16 was the same price as the D15 the car had. Replaced all the parts to new when doing the change. Shocks were bad so he upgraded them for a firmer ride. The only thing that takes me away from this is the 2-step. I was okay with most of it until the 2-step. With a different transmission, and other aftermarket parts, I could see a tune being needed, and the tuner saying, how about launch control while we are in there. honestly reads like an autocrosser.

2. Guy wants to feel young again an impress his midlife crisis high school GF. Does everything to make it look "in".

If I was a girl above the age of ... 12 ... and a guy pulled up in a car like that ... I'd probably laugh.

I think it started out okay, but it's definitely in the boy racer croud now. Especially with the tonka orange steering wheel.

Update..

So I went to look at the car today. Rich was located maybe hour from Albany. When I get to Rich's house there maybe 7 honda's at house(maybe 3 old Civics), then maybe 7 motors in some part of being completion in his mom's house, some 700 HP+ and some only couple hundred HP. Three of the cars were parked out back of house on a white concrete slab. The red civic was in better shape then pictures lead you believe. He had names for certain cars he building but said he didn't have a name for red civic yet. He had me look under the slab to see not a drop of oil was on slab. He showed me under the hood and it was very clean. He installed the custom ECU in the car before I got there. Told me doesn't like keep the after market ECUs out in cold in car.

He started the car for first time in a week. I have no reason to believe he lying. Car did a-little hesitation first pull and by second started up strong with a higher idle and then relaxed to normal idle after a few minutes.

The problem I had was he didn't think the car was a DD, in his mind it is a special car that driven in the summer and not in rain. So I just didn't feel like taking the car that had no rust what so ever and destroying it in a way. I told him of my plans and he said me make some changes to air intake to mount up on the engine bay rather the mounted outside and near ground. I had no question that he good engine builder or the quality of the car. Or the fact that I could come back to him if I have an issue with the vehicle. Overall although I didn't think the car was a good fit I had good time learning about his craft. I thought about taking pictures but I didn't like idea of taking pictures of his stuff, so I didn't.

Yea, I hear 650hp..750hp all the time out of VW and Subaru guys...Show me the dyno paper or shut up..lol I have YET to see even a 350WHP subaru..I have a dyno sheet in the glove box of my PSD that shows her making 431hp and 850ftlbs... not a lot of power but it does so reliably and is enough for my needs

This would be a great way to add 30mins on to your commute. You know of all the cars driving by the cops, their eyes are going to straight to this POS.

happened be one engine block on the ground in house of many engines. It was all wrapped up, there was forged internals, said special order for a guy. I dunno, not an engine builder. Nor have I seen a engine builder 's house. He wasn't young about 40 and he really into his Honda's and VW engines. He did the building for fun not for the money. I believe me buying his car would free up money so buy something else.

But had Civic in back of house w/rollrage and fuel cell. Not sure of the HP specs of that car either. Guy was a Honda hobby engine builder.

You said this engine was in his mom's house? Just not normal for somebody building 700+HP 4-cylinder engines to be keeping them at their mom's place

I know an engine builder. He has a machine shop. That's where his engines are. He doesn't keep them at his mom's

Don't take that as a dig, I just think it is kind of funny.

It takes a LOT of skill to make a 4-pot stay together at that kind of power level.........

I've also seen caged and fuel cell'd turbo Civics running 12's and 13's. That's certainly a far cry from 700HP in a gutted 2000lb car...... I'm not saying this is the case here, just something to keep in mind. Just because something looks fast doesn't mean it is. And just because somebody says an engine is 700HP doesn't make it so. That's where a dyno sheet or a timeslip becomes very useful.
