89 Honda filter question

I don't get this...

The purolator filter crosses with the Super Tech filter, but is a bit shorter. I read around that the purolator has a larger filter that will fit, the 24458, but am a weee bit hesitant to use it because my car (prelude) doesn't appear to have much room down there. From what I understand this is the same suspension as the Civic. Does anyone know if the larger filter will fit? How about the larger filter for the motorcraft filter?


actually, I used this post as a reference. Which one is the typo and which one is correct for the oversized. 14458 or 24458?

24458 is the correct oversized. I have used it on a 94 civic, and it fits. It also fits on a 94 integra. Looking at a 97 accord, there's plenty of room for it to fit there too. But I am not so sure about you year accord.

The AC/Delco 1127 has the most media out of the champion labs filters; supertech, stp, bosch, and I think the 1127 still comes with a spring-type bypass valve.

I'll be cutting open all my filters after I try them. STP, FRAM, Powerflow (purolator), ST, AC Delco, Motorcraft, and maybe a few others depending on how cheap I can get them. Basically, I'm using a 3.50 limit on price.

Which ever one I like best I'll get another, use it, cut it open and see how comparative two filters of the same everything are.

If I recall correctly, and some notes I once took suggest so, the Pep Boy's (a big chain in the Southwest) Purolator listings call for #24458 for ALL '88 and '89 U.S. sold Hondas.

is FL-752 the correct cross reference for L24458?

I would like to use the Purolator/Motorcraft, but I'd also like to buy it at walmart.
