I’ve been using Mobil 15w50 actually!What do you normally run 5w40? 15w40?
That looks fantastic for the age. I'd go for the Restore and Protect for 3 or 4 oil changes in a row. Can't hurt.Thinking of throwing some Valvoline Restore and Protect in there but not sure if it’s needed.
Hey everyone,
I was wondering in your guys opinion how does the motor look for its age!
Yes, 1st oil change was done back in 96 with 20w50 3k mile intervals. 20w50 up until 300k, I think it was mostly a mix of Kendall oil back in the day and Mobil 1. Then it’s been on a mix of 5w40 and 15w50 since then.Do you know the engines maintenance history back to 96?
It’s whole life essentially! 20w50 as well up until 300kLooks fabulous for the very high mileage. How many of those miles have been with m1 15w-50, perhaps it’s been lightly cleaning since mobil oils tend to do that.
Fantastic.. Thanks!Yes, 1st oil change was done back in 96 with 20w50 3k mile intervals. 20w50 up until 300k, I think it was mostly a mix of Kendall oil back in the day and Mobil 1. Then it’s been on a mix of 5w40 and 15w50 since then.
I love the thought of thick + 3k intervals. Have you compression tested it and does it burn any oil? I hope the bores still show good crosshatching too. It’s whole life essentially! 20w50 as well up until 300k
