WOW GM!!! Thanks, that's GREAT! The future of the Small Block Chevy, will not only endure forever, but is improved to 8.3 L! That is a Great Christmas Present!

It will hook up to almost all powertrain applications, to any GM car made within the last 50 years, if I understand it's application? So a 500 CI Cadillac V8 to a 350 GM Diesel V8 Disaster, from a Caprice TAXI to an L06 Corvette?
For the Racer to the Restorer to Street Rods!

Nice addition for retrofiting those older cars. I hear this is an iron block though, I think I'd stick to a nice LS2/7 myself.

I hear ya'. But if you want big-block cubic inches in a small block size gotta go with the pig-iron.

It'll sludge up once the intake gasket leaks.

To reach 8.3L, whats the bore, stroke, rod lenth, compression height, and rod:stroke ratio? It sounds like the recipe for a short lived oil burner!

undummy I think you should remove the un. If you knew anything abouth the LSX you would realize how stupid you sound. First off all lsx engines produced for the last 10 years have dry intakes. Second the LS based small block has proven to be one of the most reliable, powerful, and fuel efficient engines ever produced. This particular one is for high end builups and is good for over 2500 hp. You can now build a 500ci small block with l92 heads that flow 330cfm out of the box for under 8k. Its called tire burner not oil burner. Can you say 9 second daily driver. The anti gm bias on this board reminds me of the looney left--- never let facts get in the way.

the links in the first post are funny, the first refers to the reggie jackson camaro and says a 600+ 454 inch LSX. 454 cubic inch is traditionally referred to as a 7.3L, not 8.3. A typo? the 2nd link however says a max displacement out to 511 cubes, which is 8.37L. Asking the bore and stroke is definitely a valid question. Sounds more like marketing and hype though, like they're looking for the biggest displacement number they can get away with publishing.

The LSX block is probably available in various deck heights, the 8.3L one being pretty tall.
The 454 and 502 run 4.25" and 4.466" bores with 4" stroke.
If the LSX were to use a 4.25" bore, it'd need a 4.5" stroke to make 511 cid.

made a pretty good guess, the article in short:
block is shipped at 3.99" bore, but designed to be bore-able to 4.25" (like the 454) and at 4.25" bore will have a minimum 0.200" cylinder wall thickness which they say is 0.125" larger than anything else. It's an iron block, and the tall deck version will be 9.7" (vs. the LS2 at 9.2") which will allow for a 4.5" stroke.
So the question will be, at that displacement what pistons and rods will there be available and what rpms will be attainable.

nevermind my 7.3L comment, the 454 is 7.4L. my f250 diesel was a 7.3, silly ford

Worlds Warhawk block is an excellent piece it also costs double what the LSX block costs. Dart makes an even nicer piece of solid billet. how big is your wallet?

actually it won't directly bolt up to anything that came with a buick, olds, pontiac, or caddilac engine. GM used a different bellhousing pattern on the chevy engines.
