75w140 in 02 Silverado

But not GM. However, in around 2019 the owners manuals said see your dealer.
My 2019 manual says to see the dealer. Having said that, I just changed my open diff oil at 72,000 miles and used Mobil Delvac1 75w90. FF actually looked good.

So what does everyone suppose the value of “ see your dealer” is. I take it he ( the service writer) wil listen to how you use your truck and I imagine if you tow a lot, he or she will suggest using a 110 or 140. Really, the factory needs to put out a bulletin on the whole issue. The 2024 still says “ see your dealer”. Then what.

I believe so, not super familiar with chevy trucks, my first one and only had it a month, most of that month being in the shop chasing these issues lol
My previous ‘02 Silverado had an Eaton clutch-type locking diff, and it needed friction modifier additive or it chirped the inside tire on hard turns.

I ran Red Line 75W-140 for over 90k miles, adding half a small bottle of FM without issues or noticeable MPG impact.
