The plugged screen is the RESULT... not the cause. I'd bet money the screen was fine before the bearings created all the debris. If they had NOT let it run low on oil, it would probably still be running.

Your right. But I wonder what kind and name brand oil was in the engine? It had to be something good to go that far before throwing in the towel.

I know somebody who went 50 000 miles between oil changes 5 times before selling the car! It was still running good. That was on convertional oil too.
