My brother told me today that his neighbor uses Amsoil Diesel oil in his diesel engine. He has the filter kit also. This guy states he has over 40,000 miles on the oil and gets an UOA every 5000 miles. I asked my brother to ask his neighbor what his TBN is. I would think this is an extreme oci. The guy also said he probably won't ever change his oil. I think I going get a hold of his UOA. Is this extreme or what?

If you read some of the Amsoil literature or articles online, you'll find a rather dated story about a guy who went over 400,000 miles on his Amsoil diesel oil without a drain. Just changed filters and topped off the oil in his class 8 Mack truck. I believe his name was Haywood Gray and his used oil analysis came back good every time. Engine teardown later showed engine still in great shape. I'm thinking he was also running their bypass filter, too.

It is a turbo diesel. wouldn't you think the TBN would be near 0?

What's the big deal go the diesel engine UOA section on this site. There is a guy with 70000 miles on Schaffer's...

His numbers look got but it doesn't show his TBN. That's my concern when running oil this long.
