It is my understanding that all on-road diesel fuel sold in the USA has been Ultra Low Sulfur since around 2010. It displaced low sulfur diesel.

LSD was no more than 500 ppm sulfur. ULSD is no more than 15 ppm. All diesel vehicles made since model year 2007 require ULSD.

Well, we have a 7-Eleven store/gas station near here in southern Vermont that has among the lowest prices on on-road diesel. But I noticed the label on the pump says it is Low sulfur diesel, not ultra low sulfur, and the sulfur is under 500 ppm.

I didn't think they sold this stuff at gas stations in the USA in years. Is it likely that they just never replaced the old labels on the pump?

All diesel sold in the US/CANADA is ULSD. There isn't anywhere in the US where any diesel other than ULSD is legal to be sold. My guess is old pumps.

I saw "leaded" signs on modern Exxon pumps circa 2000. You're safe.

There isn't a terminal where they can get that shady sulfurous fuel anyway. And if they were up to shenanigans, they wouldn't advertise them.

I remember the smell a poorly tuned diesel could make off sulfurous fuel. Takes me way back...

There's a burned out Chinese restaurant near me that's getting $3.29/gal for on road diesel, waaaay cheaper than anyone else. I think they're money laundering but am riding the wave while they're open.

I think half the businesses are money laundering. Smoke shops, barber shops, dispensaries, restaurants, massage parlors, pizzerias, ...
