Just looking for some advice on running my 03 Saturn past the OLM which comes on at 7.5K. I drive 80% hwy and 800 to 1000 miles a week. I have the 2.2 eco-tec bought car w/10K on the odo, used Mobil 5000 and changed at 5K until 40k and switched to Mobil 1, first changed at 45K, 51K, 57K, 64.5K, and 72K. Car now has 75K and wondering if I should ignore the OLM and go to 10K. Car uses no oil between changes, have used oem filters since new, just ordered some Wix from Fleetfilter $4.66 each w/shipping. I see a lot of hondas, and toyotas going 10k and I figured the eco-tec w/M1 could do it. Looked for some UOA for the eco-tec and came up blank. Thanks for any advice. BTW pep boys sells the 32mm filter socket for the eco-tec for $9.99. Great little motor gas mileage has never dropped below 28mpg w/ every tank being checked. I am a District Manager for Merchandising Group that services Wally World. Their prices blow my mind compared to the competion. Also I love the 5qt jugs both of my Satty's an 00L200 and 03L200 use exactly 5qts to fill, plus the cleanest Oil change ever with filter being on top of the engine.

Is that a true OLM ..or a odometer driven reminder? 7.5k seems way too convenient a number.

2.2 ecotec UOAs (I didn't find any "extended" drains)

If you're using M1 full syn, you could probably go even longer than 10K, especially if you're using the 0-40, or the extended performance stuff. Best way to find out is by doing UOA's. The 0-40 and EP are VERY good oils.

I believe it works because my wifes 00 L comes on at 3K-4K and she drives mainly 60% City. I drive pretty much the same style every week, I have a pretty large area that I cover. The OLM comes on as early as 7,200, and late as 7,600, it is also a idiot light and not a percentage of oil life left. I have a UAO kit that I will use on the next drain when the OLM goes off probaly around 80K on the clock.
