6.7 Powerstroke Diesel Injectors failing at low mileage?

It was installed by the RV dealer...so my guess is they probably used crap stuff. Maybe should figure out how to remove to rule out? Doesn't get me any insurance credit and is an annoyance. Looks like they don't make it anymore so not sure how to get instructions so I can uninstall. Definitely something to rule out...crazy if that could be causing this.
A lot of that dealer-installed stuff is pretty easy to remove. It’s also lazily installed. Look for T-taps, excess electrical tape/zip ties, or things that don’t look factory. Start underneath the instrument cluster, beneath the driver’s carpet, look at the wiring in the steering column. T-taps/scotch-locks are a telltale sign.

One gotcha - if they installed a starter kill relay(usually two orange wires splicer inline to the starter wire), you need to mend that. Or you will not be able to start the engine.

Great info. Thanks. Will probably look into this uninstall. Don't have enough knowledge to know how it could be creating some disturbance to the injectors, but you never know. It started with P1558 and put new injector in and reflashed PCM. Now P1555 and sometimes both P1555 & P1558.

Could a relay create an electrical inference all of a sudden 10 years later?

Will see what Ford Engineering comes up with but not averse to deleting alarm to rule out.

Update.

Ford technician has not heard back from Ford Engineering as of 1:00 p.m. today. Hopefully they are busy and not stumped...more to come (hopefully). Least truck is still drivable and not completely disabled. Hope everyone is well.

Ford dealership heard back from Ford Engineering and they said something must be wrong with the wiring harness communication at startup. They are ordering new wiring harness. Fingers crossed...

I’d run an overlay long before I change an entire engine harness. Glad they’re on the right track

What are they charging you for that? Full parts price and full labor? I hope not.

Well, they diagnosed and charged for PCM and labor. Service guy said wiring harness and labor is about $500 more than PCM/Labor. Ford doesn't allow them to put old PCM back in, so they asked if I could pay the additional $500.

Surprised Ford Engineering didn't recommend an overlay before wiring harness? Anyway, hoping on the right track?

Thanks for all your help and wisdom. Much appreciated sir.

PCM/Labor (which included diagnoses) was around $2,100.

Is wiring harness replacement super hard? It doesn't look fun...

wiring harness, done correctly, is labor intensive. Providing it’s the entire engine harness. The pcm, take about 10 minutes to change, and probably a half hour tops of programming.

Dealership techs won’t do overlays. Replace it all or nothing. Ford probably sees it as an opportunity for failure. But, done correctly, there is no long term reliability issue.
