In the past month, I have tried to buy a 5w20 synthetic for my Hondas. Checkers had PP on sale for 99 cents after rebate, but they do not carry PP in a 5w20. So, I went to Advanced Auto to buy some Valvoline SuperSyn at BOGO, but they do not carry this in 5w20 either.

I would like to use a synthetic and do 7,500 OCI or twice a year until the warranty is up on both cars (they both have about 33K on them). Then I plan on once a year with Amsoil 0w20.

Is there a good $2 blend that would give me 7,500 miles of suburban driving? I have considered buying some of the 5w30 SS and then mixing a quart or two with the regular Valvoline, giving me a 5w23 or so. Any thoughts??

go with the motorcraft blend. that should get you to 7500 in the honda with no problem. get the 5 qt jug at china mart for around 10 bucks. contact Pablo the Amsoil man,a site sponsor, for purchasing Amsoil. He will not steer you wrong.

Walmart has synthetics in 5W-20. You just won't get it for BOGOF - or 99 cents after rebate.

Only a UOA will determine if a syn-blend like Motorcraft may last 7.5K inside your engine.

I agree with all above, but I'd definately confirm with a UOA. I'm currently playing around with the Super Tech 5w-20, ($1.54 a quart, regular price) which is a blend but I won't have any UOA's back for several months. Motorcraft has been a great performer in a lot of apps as seen here over the years.

What kind of driving and Honda engine, do you use? Honda in the manual recommends 10000 mile intervals. I laugh too, but the engines are pretty forgiving.
