5w20 oil, are they all the same?

It's like the Corvette synthetic oil specification 4718m. A semi-synthetic oil could be formulated to meet the minimum Corvette 4718m specification but only a 100% synthetic oil will ever meet the genuine GM Goodwrench quality standard.

Whenever genuine parts parts are made they have to meet a certain standard that may far exceed the minimum standards. Therefore a petroleum 5w20 will never meet genuine Motorcraft standards for quality and will not even be considered for private labeling.
A 100% synthetic oil will exceed Motorcrafts standards for excellence. However a petroleum 5w20 will meet Fords minimum warranty requirements. Too many people think that all oils are created equal as long as they meet minimum warranty specifications. This is simply not true.

Valvoline Dura-Blend.

I would suspect that there are others out on the market also.

Okay ..that sorta says to me that 5 out of 6 you mentioned are from one refiner/blender.

The reason I'm so

is that I never see any of these locally. The exception being MC and Mobil 7500. Not at Walmart ..nor at AA.

Isn't Valvoline Maxlife 5W20 part synthetic even though it isn't advertised as such? I'm not certain of this, just basing it on what I've read here on various Maxlife threads(about the free stuff)

That's what I was wondering ..or rather ...that they all were Semi Synthetic ..they just didn't bother to sell them as such. Apparently it's not all that hard to make a 5w-20 that meets Ford's spec without being a Semi Synthetic.

That was the reason for my apparent "dumbness". Out of all that I've "seen" only MC was a Semi Synthetic.

I see Pennzoil has a SUV, Truck and Minivan Enhanced Protection Synthetic Blend 5w-20 now.

Apparently they do. They just don't list 5w-20 on the PDS listing page. There's also no indication that it's a Semi Synthetic until you get into the PDS ..while there are other Semi Synthetics listed. When you open the 4X4 PDS ..5w-20 is there. It's just not on the list.
