Agreed... always puts me at the full mark on my Fords. Pull the dipstick out & look at it in direct sun. That's about the only way I'm able to see most oils when they are new. Or I just dump in the correct amount & wait until the oil darkens up although that takes about 1,000 miles. I was unable to read Pennzoil Platinum on my dipstick on my 2007 Fusion 3.0L but I just put Platinum in one of my 6.2L F-250s today & I could read it on that dipstick.
 
Don't look for the oil, instead use the oil as a mirror to reflect the sun/light bulb at your eye. The oil will be shiny and reflective, the bare metal will be dull. The level will be obvious.

If that doesn't work for you, give your cars a dose of Moly Disulphide (MoS2), that will sort it out.
