I changed the oil and filters on 5 family owned cars and trucks last week
with 5w-20 Castrol Mag. All are 2012 and newer. 4cyl and one 8 cyl F350 gasser.
I used only Fram Ultra and Mobil 1 filters from my stash.

I have over 400 miles on one of my cars already. I should get some results in a month as I have a 4000 mile trip I need to do.

Question. On my car the CM oil is so clear that I can't really tell where its at on
the dipstick and the same for some of the other cars.
Anybody try degreasing the dipstick and then use a color permanent marker on the fill lines so they can see where the oil is? I have a bag of all color markers.

I know CM creeps but that's not the issue- even after 400 + miles its crystal clear on the dipstick.

Thanks All.

I guess you guys never check your oil until oil change time.
Try that on a 2015 Camry.

You will be able to see the level after you run it a few hundred miles and the oil gets some color.

Also shine a flash light at the dipstick when the sun goes down, you will be able to tell where the oil is as the reflection of the light will be different where the oil is.

+1. Consider taking some kind of small file and making a small line that you can see and go by after filling with appropriate amount.

Maybe OP has a super clean engine.

That's my thought on my wife's LS. Castrol Edge is impossible to read on the dipstick even after 500 miles now. The Jag blackened fast the first oil change I did and this time with Castrol it was fairly easy to read after a couple of drives. I guess the Jag might have been a bit neglected before me.

Relax guys, it was a joke. Everytime I say one oil stays cleaner or doesn't he as dark as another I get told it I because it doesn't clean as well as the one that gets black, which when used as a blanket, is complete hogwash.

I'll bite though, how does the uoa you posts show the cleansing ability of the oil?

My car only had 2300 miles on it and thus it was the first oil change.
So the motor was sparkling clean and even with a flashlight you see oil there but the edge of it is hard too discern because the fresh silver dipstick with clear oil on it's tough to see.

But so far so good.
After 500 miles my mpg is up and nothing else much to add except that.
Sounds and feels about the same too.
I didn't burn a drop of the factory fill either.

And the 5w-20 is a full synthetic unlike the 5w-30
The price was great- $18 + but I thought that sale would last because everyone had it at that price.
But no more or it's out of stock.
