Good Day All,

I'm new to this forum, and have a question on
Amsoil's 2 cycle oils.

Last fall, I bought a new Tomos moped, 50cc,
aircooled, pre-mix, 2 stroke engine.

Some years ago, worked as a motorcycle mechanic
for a Yamaha/Kawasaki dealer, and remember
having to clean more than one clogged exhaust
pipe from mineral based 2 cycle oil.

So, I wanted to use full synthetic 2 cycle oil.
The owner's manual says to mix 50:1, the dealer
where I bought the bike says 32:1.
....(Using mineral based oil.)

I used the Amsoil Series 2000 Racing oil at 50:1
for 800 miles, took the exhaust off the bike
to check for carbon. The exhaust port on this
bike is very small, found 2 ridged areas of carbon, which were easily cleaned out with
a small pick type tool.

When Amsoil introduced the Interceptor oil,
I bought some, and also bought some of the
Sabre Professional 100:1.

I ran the Sabre 100:1 for about 30 miles,
again removed & checked the pipe, found no
carbon, but didn't see much oil, either.
So, I now run the Sabre at 50:1.

Q:
Does anyone run the Interceptor oil in an
air cooled engine of this type?, pre mix?

The product brochures list it more of an
injector oil for snowmobiles/power valves.

I have several quarts and would like to try
it in my air cooled moped, if the lubrication
factor is there.

Thanks everyone,

Jimi

Try some Mobil MX2T.

I think you will like it much better than the oils you mentioned.

Blano,

I did purchase some Mobil MX2T to do
some comparisons with.

It looks about the same as the Interceptor
oil, as far as thickness & color.

I've been running the Sabre oil a bit
richer than the 100:1, for the past
100 miles on the moped, and then I'll
pull the pipe, & check for carbon, etc.

Jimi, Another thing to consider is your carb jetting. No oil will perform up to its ability with a overly rich fuel/air ratio.

Saber is the best oil. And why wouldnt it be?

alot of exhaust get fouled by using the wrong type of oil, not nessassairly has anything to do with mineral oil.
or the wrong jetting for the load.

The bike's engine is stock, as also the
carb jetting, so far no problems.

Both the Series 2000 Racing, and Sabre oils
are very thick.

At 50:1, that's 2.56 oil per gallon of gas
for pre-mix, which isn't very much oil
for a gallon.

Not much smoke with either of those oils
at that ratio.
........the spark plug is always a light
tan color.
.........and the engine compression at now
900 miles, is the same or higher than when
the bike was new.

Since the Interceptor oil was designed for
snowmobiles with powervalves/cleanliness,
as injector oil, but "can be used as a 50:1
pre-mix", .........just wondering if it would
be even cleaner running than the above oils
in a small air cooled engine.

......Must say....synthetic oils are the
way to go.

Thanks Everyone,

Jimi
