I think a minor adjustment in driving warm-up or general style would account for many times more fuel economy than the difference between "synth" and dino 10w-30.

Right. I noticed an increase in mpg when I went from dealer fill to M1. Not science,just my personal observation. Increase could have been caused by other factors such as old dealer fill being a greater weight,old oil being spent,etc. At today's gas prices you only have to get a small mpg increase to pay for the extra cost of syn.
