The Mobil oil used might be much like the M1R product that you can't buy at all now. One of the dumbest things they ever did. A great product with a high price and very limited distribution.

Glad I stocked up when I could still find it.

I think I'm going to stay with Pennzoil 5w30. Best price from what I've seen and I don't see any $ being paid to me to use anything else unlike the race teams.

I am waiting for the post where someone claims that the teams are all dumping out the oil and refilling the jugs with Amsoil because it it so much better than what their sponsors give them....

Well maybe not Amsoil, but Red Line, Neo, etc., etc.

Does any Nascar teams use dino oil, or do they all pretty much use synthetic? I assume the Pennzoil cars use Pennzoil Platinum or something?

When I was involved in off road racing, we had Kendall dino in the motor (cause they gave it to us for free) and Valvoline stickers on the car for contingency money (they also gave us a free case just for putting the stickers on the car).

It's the "or something". It's a Shell synthetic but you can't buy it.

Where in the advertising does it say that the oil is used in the race cars?

At that level they probably give the teams lots of free oil. There are lots of other vehicles in use in NASCAR--the transporters, the golf carts.

Heck if even one member of the team puts the oil in their personal car, that's technically being used by the team.

It was 74% but now it's down to over 50%. LOL.
Free oil only goes to Mobil sponsored cars like Penske. Shell, Valvoline and Joe Gibb's are the other big oils used.

Many of NASCAR's top racing teams have found one common key ingredient to on-track performance -- the motor oil. In a recent survey of teams in NASCAR's three major divisions, 119 out of the 160 cars that regularly race in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series, the NASCAR Busch Series and the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series use Mobil 1(R) motor oil in their racecars. That's 74 percent of NASCAR drivers who rely on the protection and performance of the world's best-selling synthetic motor oil.

As of October 13, 2003, drivers using Mobil 1 with SuperSyn(TM) anti-wear technology in their racecars have won 57 of the 82 races this year, and have accumulated 267 top-five finishes. That means that in 70 percent of the NASCAR races in all three series, a car lubricated with and protected by Mobil 1 took the ride to victory lane.

Johnny is it the Shell Helix Ultra 10W60 GRoup 4 PAO (Made specifically for the Ferrari Moderna)? Theres also a Helix Ultra 15W50 PAO Synthetic but apparently they arent making it anymore.THey are available in Australia. On the Shell Racing site they have a 0W20 or a 0W40, it may be one of those. Im sure you can get it, but only by the drum ??? You had to do that get the racing 15W50.

True, and the version they released to the public was an older version of what Ryan Newman was using. I noticed also for McClaren they have all new lubricants for 2008 fwiw.
