I have a case of the Torco 5w-20 that I wanted to use up so I bought some Phillips Super HD 15w40 SL/CI-4 to mix at 50-50 ratio to be used in the Daughters car for awhile . That Torco must have had a load of moly in it ! The Phillips does not use moly .

Moly 372
Magnesium 15
Calcium 2339
Phos 1216
Zinc 1371
Silicone 8
Sodium 29 - Torco

Vi 40c 71.2
Vi 100c 10.9
VI Index 143
TAN 2.02
TBN 7.84

Something missing is the 700 ppm of Magnesium and 400ppm of Boron the Phillips oil uses . Not sure what happened there .

Motorbike, your nuts.

How much $$ did you spend on these VOA's?

Buster , I buy these kits 20 at a time at a great price and nuts is not the term my Wife uses most times

Pinoy , Your thinking of the Synergyn 20wt VOA .

A VOA of the Torco 5w-20 was/is MIA and I did not send in another , it does appear the oil would have had 742 ppm of Moly though .

The Phillips jug is different than I've seen before and I think it was an older formulation that got lost in the Atwoods stock room .

If this brew came in 5 quart jugs it would cost 16.25 ........ I don't think I'd buy any

Or would I ?

Motorbike, I seem to recall you running torco 5w20 in your vehicle, did you ever do a used oil analysis on with real mileage( > 3000) on it? I'm running it in my honda now and the 1500 mile blotter test looks better than mobil 1 0w20. Unless the heat gets to it I will guess it will be able to go for a while.

thanks,

r.
