Is it just me or do any of you find the 5+ quarts annoying. It is difficult to tell how much oil you are actually putting in the car. I usually poor it in a different container to measure.

I like 'em. My '95 F-150 always seemed to want a little more than 5 quarts to come up to the top of the dipstick, and my '97 F-150 likes a little more than 6 quarts. Works for me!

No, The new jugs pour easy and most have markings and a view line on the side. Usually a substantial savings too. Pretty close to getting the 5th quart free.

Wish I more ATF came in 5 quarts

I have no problem with quarts but they'd be a pain to fill with used oil to take to the recyclers.

Like them also, although it will be a while, as I have 3 changes worth of qts. The Taco is full to just below the full line with 5 qts, this will make it much simpler to buy oil in the future.

Actually, that's not always the case anymore. Advance's 5+qt jug is 5.1 qts, which is not five liters. Autozone's 5+qt jug is, I believe, the only one that is actually 5 liters, which is 5.28qts. The jugs at Wally are five qts even.

I'm with ya greystone---I don't care for the jugs either.
I prefer the quarts...then again I guess I prefer most things that are "old school".

I wish they made a 6 quart jug because I could then just dump the full 6 quarts into my 6+ quart sump. In my othe vehicle which requires 4.5, I use a cheap 2 quart plastic graduated picture from WalMarts for about $2.

I took a metal file to my filter mount so I could fit a wider filter which would let me dump the whole 5qt jug in. I hate having left over oil in the jug.

All of my cars need more than 5 quarts, S2000 needs 5.5 quarts, LS400 needs 5.4 quarts and E430 needs 8.5 quarts. I usually just use 5 quarts for S2000 and LS400 and 8 quarts for E430, then add a quart at 3-4k miles if the level on dipstick is at add line. 5 quarts, 5+ quarts and 5 liters are great containers to fill with used oil to take to the recyclers.

Cans are metal or they are not cans. I don't think anyone is selling oil in metal containers to the public. Plastic bottles and jugs have pretty muched taken over; they don't corrode and are easy to reseal and 55 gallon drums are not expected to be purchased by consumers.

This.
Never had a car that uses about 5 qts. All have been roughtly 4qts so adding the entire jug is too much.
I love the 4quart jugs (rare, but seem some at WM) they are perfect in size.

Hey that's what the dipstick is for.

It saves me a fair bit of money buying the bigger jugs. My car only takes 3.6L and I can get 5.5L jugs at my local parts store. So that's makes a pretty neat 3 oil changes from 2 jugs. Compared with the cost buying individual liter bottles this makes every third oil change free.
