Is anyone on BITOG ever OUT of oil? This elusive container they are shopping for will satisfy them?

I think George Washington and the Continental Army ordered all their shot and powder in kilos and grams and how many kilometers was it across the Delaware??

Maybe he was listening to Tom. If more people listened to Jefferson, we could have gotten the switch to metric done 200 years ago. When you are beging the French for help against the English, best not order ammunition in pounds.

One advantage to using the same oil for over 30 years, it no left overs. Well yes, a little SE in the SF, SJ, SL. and now SM. Maybe some other grades I forget.

I like big jugs but I like a nice can even more.

I don't have a problem with either system of measurement. Though I have noticed if one likes the imperial system better they are referred to as a redneck and will generally like NASCAR. While the metric aficionados are referred to as elitists and enjoy F1. I would rather wrench on metric nuts and bolts but would rather rebuild an engine using the imperial system. Maybe because I like F1 and NASCAR. Or I'm just an elitist redneck.

Even the gallon jugs (or whatever size they are) of Mobil 0w-40 or GC 0w30 would be fine, but I've never seen one.

I bought a 5.28 Quart/5 litre bottle of Autozone oil at ... well Autozone. In Buffalo NY.

I appreciate both Jugs and Cans. Of oil of coarse

Check out local Import Car Parts stores. The local chain here in the Detroit carries Total, Motul, and a few other brands in the 5-litre size.

My wife's car has a 6-litre sump! Having a 5-litre jug sure makes it easier, and saves money too when compared to the cost of five 1-litre bottles.

I just checked and a 5 liter jug of Liqui Moly is $35+$13 from an eBay merchant. My sump is 7 quarts for the cars and the only way it makes sense for me is to buy 3 jugs and use the same oil in both the cars with the same oil change date so that I don't have large jugs sitting around.

Probably next year when the oil change is due on them.

Don't like fractions on the side of your sockets...?

I'm going to make a line of metric sockets just for you!

3/10cm
2/5cm
1/2cm
3/5cm
7/10cm
4/5cm
1cm
1-1/5cm
1-2/5cm
1-1/2cm

....

lol

Thanks,
that is 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, 0.6, 0.7, 0.8, 1, 1.2, 1.4, 1.5. Amazing.

Maybe this is the little things that are just different thinking like the following standards of notation:

Euro: 40% fat, US: 60% fat free
Euro: 1.4 liters per euro mile (10km) US: appr 18 miles per gallon...

That just means that you should be changing the oil yourself instead of letting someone else do it for you.

This country changed to metric overnight in the late '70's. The only things still expressed in inches are TV screens and Subway's sandwiches.

Redline oil of course shows up in quarts - not too convenient when you need 2.0 L for the transaxle and two bottles gets you only 1.9

NASA and the Army are not good reasons to love metric, they HAVE to have pin point accuracy with every other country.
I like to buy my oil just like my milk, butter and ice cream. The cows have come home.
btw Fahrenheit or Celsius it's cold tonight!
But to the thread, I can’t get liter jugs in Arkansas (Thank the Lord) but I have purchased some great liquid storage jugs at Target, I can measure that .1 quart of oil I need to top off the Saab. Nothing like having .9 quarts of oil sitting on your shelf in waiting.
