Just put in MC 5W-20 in my '03 2500 Ram last week. I will do a used oil analysis at around the 5K mark. Looking foward to seeing how this thin oil will do. I went thin this time becasue of the weather here in Indiana, and I will not be towing nearly as much during the winter months. (5th Wheel in storage)
The last oil I had in the HEMI was Mobil 1 0W-40. Had to use 3/4 Qt of Mobil 1 5W-40 make-up oil over the 5500 hard miles I ran it. I did not do a used oil analysis because of the make-up oil. By changing the oil type, the used oil analysis would not reflect its' true #s.
I did a lot of heavy towing and a lot of Hyway driving in the hot Gulf Shores area. As such, I don't think that < 1Qt of makup oil was that bad. I run Shell gas too switching between reg and V-power. I use V-power when I tow.
I get a true 12.6 MPG. For a 3/4 ton, Quad cab 4X4, I think that's OK. At 55 MPH, I can get up to 22 MPG. After hitting 60 MPH, the MPG goes south VERY fast.
Hope Motorcraft come thur.. I also use it in my 03 Sable and 89 Honda..
