4R70W Fluid Exchange How-To

Not sure if this is useful for any members here, but I recently did a "cooler line flush" on the 4R70W in my F150 and documented it with pics. I was not able to find anything like this when I did the procedure myself.

I add new fluid after a series of short drain sequence, so I do not wait for the bubbles: I go by the change in color of the fluid - it's quite dramatic. This way I do not risk to run it 'dry'. This is not an argument, just FYI. Thank you for a very thorough and easy to follow document.

I have a 4R75W Trans in my Marauder, thanks for the LINK.

c3po, not to worry. The 4R75W is identical to the 4R70W but has some beefed-up internals.

Nice write up.

I just changed my fluid for the first time @ 117k in my 01'. I opted to just drop the pan (New filter also) and drain the torque converter. From now on, I'll just do yearly pan drains since I went with a deep 2 qt extra capacity pan with a drain plug. I only put approximately 4k on it a year these days.
