40R battery source

I have no idea on where or what warranty for your specific model but I'd just add my opinion that AGM has really gotten to a point of widespread acceptance & some stores are all they stock now. I'll be going to AGM on my F-350 since I'm tired of cleaning corrosion off the terminals. AGM does last longer so the increase in price nowadays is manageable but you already know all this.

I assume from the overwhelming response that I don't have much choice in that size. I might see If I can find something AGM that will fit.
I first tried to run Optima Red tops (3) over 20 years ago. They all leaked, so much for a battery that does not corrode terminals/leak all over stuff.

Now days there are lots of choices. But I'm learning not so much for 40Rs. I got a grp 65 AGM for my F150, and a Walmart power sports AGM for my inverter generator. I have had a Diehard AGM in my Focus for at least 3 years. So I like the sealed aspect of them.

Well........ the rabbit hole is turning out to be as vast as the cosmos

It is looking like a 96R might be a substitute. But I was thinking a H6 AGM might fit as well? But one source shows just under 11" long, another says 12+" long? H6 supposed to be a group 48. Walmart site only gives height dimension for the H6.

Battery experts needed...... I bow to the knowledge they possess.

Check Sam's Club , I think this is $20 off weekend
Correct, the DURACELL 40R FLA battery is made by East Penn and has a 3 yr free replacement (i.e., not pro-rated) warranty. Sam's Club has the $20 off batteries Doorbuster sale from Nov. 7-9, 2025, which brings the price down to $119.88 this weekend.

I think they're around 12" but there may be some claiming less. I know I have an H8 in the Volvo & it's long. H6 should be smaller.

If you can find one made by East Penn/Deka, get that one.

Otherwise, get the Walmart battery. Costco's Interstate batteries have gotten worse since JCI spun off Clarios :sneaky:

Found the Walmart H6 dimension, it says 12". No go... I can get the Costco Flooded batt for $103. I don't have Sams here. I am trying for an AGM. The H5 I believe, though smaller than I want, would fit.

The Costco H6 AGM is 10 15/16" L x 6 7/8" W x 7 1/2" H

A standard 40R shows 10 15/16" L x 6 78" W x 6 7/8" H. Terminals are oriented correct. So I just need to verify Height will clear hood, then decide if Costco, or Walmart makes sense. Though I have no info on Walmart AGM H6 dimensions? I might see if I can measure one.

Here are the dimensions on the WalMart H6 Everstart Platinum AGM battery.

Be aware, the Costco three year warranty is pro rated. Walmart AGM warranty is four year free replacement.

Yes I'm aware of the warranty thing now with Costco because of everyone on this site thanks. That is why I just got the Walmart AGM 65 for my truck.
Doh thanks for the pic of the dimensions. I had a brain fart and missed that pic. I think that Everstart will fit. I just need to verify when I get the hood back on the vehicle the height will clear. Thanks
