Years ago I worked in a chemical lab. I've been totally a*n*a*l about specified requirements ever since. Our 2.3 EB Explorer specs 5.7 qts and that what it gets
. Though it does have a max mark above the the fill area. Probably 6 qts will take it to the max mark.
I bet if you drained your oil until it drips like once every 15 seconds which I purposely do after an hour or even take it off the jack stands to assure the drain hole is level or even tilted towards the drain hole to get the most out of the pan...you'll fit 5 qts in there no problem and it won't even show any overfill with the dip stick.
