I have been using 5w30 in my 4.0 Tacoma for the last 20,000k miles. There is a chart on the internet that says I can use 0w20 but I am not so sure. I only do about 5k a year and 1500 miles of that is towing a 1200 pound trailer on long highway stretches. Just wondering what everyone's thoughts are.

Either is fine. The U.S. spec is 5w-30. I used 0w-30 for our cold NY winters in my 2008 Tacoma.

The chart you're referring to is the Canadian one. 0w-20 is the spec there, for whatever reason.

A chart on the internet? My V6 Tacoma manual is pretty specific about 5w30.

On the Mobil1 0w30 bottle, it says it meets 5w30 warranty requirements, and I'd use that before I used 0w20, if I wanted a lighter weight oil.

Just saw the other poster's reply about it being a Canadian thing. Now I got it. Still may want to look at the 0w30.

Havoline 5w30 or Mobil 0w30 will be lighter, but still a 30 grade. With towing, I'd not go to 0w20, but that's me. Others will say 0w20 is fine, and probably is too.
