Yesterday I posted about a warranty visit for the wifes Fusion. I asked for the lug nuts to be replaced due to them being worn out and was told it will NOT be covered and OEM replacements would cost me 385.00 a set, I politely declined the lug nut replacement. I confirmed during a phone call the car was ready to be picked up and arrived around 6pm and the car was no where to be found. They could not find the keys or the car. I waited for 30 minutes and finally got into discussing this matter with the service manager. They had to call the tech at home to find out [censored] was going on. Basically, the advisor was wrong, the car was not ready and was still on the rack awaiting a part and tomorrow the work would be finished. The service manager was very nice about everything then we discussed the lug nut issue. I told him my maintenance schedule was every 5k the oil & filter is changed and tires rotated and was very disappointed the OEM luts are in such poor shape. I told him I use a flip socket and it is not worn out and is probably the same mac socket half the shop uses, the lug nuts are poor quality, he agreed. My only issue was at the rate my wife picks up nails and screws AAA would not be able to remove a couple since they are so bad. Long story short, after the discussion of safety and the fact that I have to make another trip to pick up the car they agreed to replace the lug nuts. I know in a couple years I will have to replace them anyway but at least this way they made it right and I appreciate that.
