Yesterday I posted about a warranty visit for the wifes Fusion. I asked for the lug nuts to be replaced due to them being worn out and was told it will NOT be covered and OEM replacements would cost me 385.00 a set, I politely declined the lug nut replacement. I confirmed during a phone call the car was ready to be picked up and arrived around 6pm and the car was no where to be found. They could not find the keys or the car. I waited for 30 minutes and finally got into discussing this matter with the service manager. They had to call the tech at home to find out [censored] was going on. Basically, the advisor was wrong, the car was not ready and was still on the rack awaiting a part and tomorrow the work would be finished. The service manager was very nice about everything then we discussed the lug nut issue. I told him my maintenance schedule was every 5k the oil & filter is changed and tires rotated and was very disappointed the OEM luts are in such poor shape. I told him I use a flip socket and it is not worn out and is probably the same mac socket half the shop uses, the lug nuts are poor quality, he agreed. My only issue was at the rate my wife picks up nails and screws AAA would not be able to remove a couple since they are so bad. Long story short, after the discussion of safety and the fact that I have to make another trip to pick up the car they agreed to replace the lug nuts. I know in a couple years I will have to replace them anyway but at least this way they made it right and I appreciate that.

No kidding - You can get a set of Gorilla lug nuts for $40, and a full set of McGards for around $100-120. Why on earth would they think that $385 for a set of OEM lug nuts is reasonable??

Ford has been denying the claims for lugnuts and not paying the dealers for doing the work.

OP, your dealer probably does matrix pricing on small parts. Its not illegal but it leaves a bad taste in everyone's mouths. Just be happy that you have a MSRP to fall back on, Ford is removing the MSRP on a lot of crash parts to stick it back to the insurance companies.

Thank that Ford lug nut price is bad? The four plastic knobs for the burners on our Hotpoint gas stove are positioned (as in most stoves) above the oven door. Apparently the plastic they use is so sensitive to heat that over a five year period, they actually FLOWED downwards about 1/2". p[rice to replace? $55 a knob!!!! I took them into the garage and ground them back to a semi round shape. Never ceases to amaze me how much some OEMs want for parts that must cost next to nothing to produce. Maybe Ford and Hotpoint are owned by the same people!!!![

There was a class-action lawsuit against Ford for their lug nuts (as you no doubt already knew) and if they honored them under warranty, it would somewhat be an admission of guilt / fault. Maybe ??

Not sure if yours are the special ones for the hubcaps or not..but on mine i need the special taper for the hub caps.. my dealers advice was to get aftermarket rims instead of the special lug nuts...

I got the special lug nuts but they didnt like it.

That's just crazy.

I sell a ton of them. We have a collection of the 1 piece ones from one of our tire vendors and the service writers give people a choise. FWIW they went to go with another set of OEMs. The municipal garages all use OEM, but that is because they are spending our money.

Picked up the car last night and the new lug nuts appear a bit different. The flat part the socket bottoms out on seems a bit larger in diameter. IDK, I shall see if the replacements are just as soft in another 4k when its time for a rotation and oil change. I hope the quality is a bit better. Unfortunately, the service manager was not there for me to thank because I got there so late.
