I have a 1978 Ford Pinto with the 2.3 overhead cam and as far as I know,it has the original water pump on it.

Is this a car that you can use as a daily driver or is this a restored car? 1978! WOW!

Just be careful not to get rearended. I have seen the gruesome results.

Pretty O/T, but years ago, a while before I got my licence, there was a really nice blue 1978 Pinto for sale on a street near where my mom lived.

It was a 2.3 automatic, and the only thing it 'seemed' to need was a new radio, as it had nothing in that space. I remember the sign on it said $600. I thouight it would have made a great first car, but obviously it didn't happen.

It is actually all original mechanically except for an altenator. The engine and trans have not had any major work, the car has went when others wouldnt. It has had a paint job and some some body work but nothing major. The interior is original except for a stereo and speakers.

I have owned it since I think 1986.I dont use it as a daily driver but it was at one time years ago.I usually just drive it some during the summer months. The local Dairy Queen has car shows, not a contest, just displaying them,a few times a year and I will drive it through but I dont ever display it.

I have had several offers to buy it.I was getting gas one day and a guy pretty much stopped in the road and asked if it was for sale.I get knocks on the door of people that are passing by and want to buy it.

it has been a really good car.

If FORD had gone with the original design, it would have been the safest small car on the road at the time.
The original design called for a rubber bladder inside the metal gasoline tank, including up the fill tube.
Also, it was to have a driver's side airbag.
So close........yet missed by so much.
