31515 Cut open

This filter is new, about 200 miles and about an hour of idling. Came off the 1200 Sportster. Was curious to see what the budget wix looks like. On top of all things this filter is probably 1/4 of the oil reserve, and I LOADED the oil with fuel and ATF when doing piston soaks. Ran with Delo 400 15w40, and replaced with the same oil and filter and plan to do 3-4k oci with 2x fci. The filter is just under 4 bucks after tax at napa

Wow that looks really good. I wonder how it compares to the Motorcraft Fl1A?

Those are a real bargain. I have run a bunch of those and their smaller counterpart the 31085 and they have always seemed to work wonderfully despite the somewhat maligned "combo" valve they use. Nitrile or not they even give stellar starts in winter in my experience.

Only downside IMO is they are not a particularly high efficiency filter.
