That's what we ended up with for the Washer and Dryer abuse.

I feel like just selling it (what is that website?). But maybe I don't want to pay fee(?)

So - what would YOU buy at HD for $300 total....

Just fishing for ideas.....new Makita Cordless drill sounds nice.

Buy something they have in stock, the Makita sounds pretty good but you can get them online for about half the price.
I would probably buy something that wouldn't be practical to buy online because of size, weight etc.

Surprised after your experience and recent posting you would return to HD under any circumstance. Based on that, I'd say selling it would be the best option, and let someone else deal with HD issues. Not guarantee something else wouldn't happen even with an on hand item store purchase. JMO.

Otoh, at least HD corporate did as they promised with $300 gift card.

I hear you - but selling the card seems like a hassle too. Do you know a/that website to sell gift cards?

Famous last words: Just going in HD anonymously and using the card can't be too bad can it..........?

Yeah their Makita stuff looks overpriced, drat. New Chainsaw would be handy.

People were selling gift cards pretty easy on eBay. At least a few years back. Have a look, my cousin sold quite a few there, you do have to discount them but they did sell for him.

If I had a $300 gift card I'd probably get another roll out tool box or more tools.

Well, you could sell it on here, or you could simply buy something big and take it home.
Do you need a new water heater, for example?
I am guessing from your level tone that the $300.00 gift card was by way of apology, and you also got a credit to your credit card for the original transaction?

Best advice yet! I am sure you will eventually need something for your house, and just as you do know that $300 worth of HD merchandise is yours for the taking!

Fo' shure. I'm in no rush. Even if if was for some item to go on sale or something, waiting isn't burning me up. That's why I'm not itchin' to give up $ selling the thing.

Post Xmas clearance and despair is huge at HD and Lowes. It drags on and on until late Jan early Feb when you can get some amazing deals on tattered boxes held together with clear tape. Power tools, lights, faucets, you name it. Usually just piled in the middle of the aisle.

I once freighted my car with these concrete paver things, originally $4, down to 25 cents. Threw them in a snowbank and they were ready when spring came.
