This is what you get from the CMP. 1,440 Rounds of .30-06 M-2 Ball 150 Gr. Ammo. All of it is clean, well packaged, and nice and shiny. I'll report on it's accuracy later, when I get a chance to do some testing. So far, so good. Excellent price on this stuff. It comes out to $5.29 @ box of 20 delivered Fed Ex Priority. They have had a slight price increase, and imposed a 10 case limit per year, per customer. If your looking for cheap .30-06, It doesn't come any better than this. Bill T.

That is a good price on 06'. I just got done buying a 700 round tin of 7.62x39 myself from cheaper than dirt.com. If you are like me with big stashes of ammo, don't forget to throw in some dessicant blocks with the stash. I like the cubes that turn pink and then you can microwave them for 60 seconds. they last a lifetime!

Great buy!

I just got back from the range and capped off 4 boxes of this stuff. Man, it's nice to shoot a round with some authority after all of the .223 I've been shooting lately! Even the wife enjoyed the increased power level. Anyway, this stuff is very accurate in all of my bolt guns. The Weatherby was the best, constantly grouping under 1" at 100 yards. The Ruger Mark II Stainless didn't like it much, but I expected that. That gun complains about most everything it's fed. The Browning A-Bolt Medallion Grade came in a close second, with only 2 of the 5, shot groups opening up to just under 2". I'll be buying more of this stuff, as it's excellent ammo, and loaded stiff. I had zero extraction or ejection problems with it. Makes the .223 feel like a woman's varminter! Bill T.

Untill one of those "tins" is opened, it'll last WAAAy longer than your lifetime anyway!

Would love to have a batch of that! Just too many outstretched hands right now.

Yup. In the late 80s I found a stash of early 60s Lake City 30.06 Match ammo and used some of it. Worked fine, just not as good as the handloads. The club was using US M2 ball in the DCM shoots, most headstamps were from the late 60s.

I think that to this day one criteria for body armor is how it handles 30.06 AP.

Bill can anyone buy ammo from CMP? I've been doing a lot of shooting lately, and figured it was time to blow through some targets with the M1. At approx .77$ a round for local winchester or remington, If I can save some $$$ I'd be all the happier :)

Yes. All that is required is to be over 18 years of age, and a United States citizen. You must also be a member of a CMP recognised organization. There are literally hundreds of them, and you might already be a member and not even know it. They have had a slight price increase, but it is still a very good buy. This is who my wife dealt with when she ordered our ammo. She is super nice and can provide you with any and all information you might need. Bill T.
