25 Honda Pilot tire recs

You’re the 3rd review I’ve read that claimed their MPG went down! Not good
It is a good tire. It is comfortable and quiet. My wife says it feels better than the OE Ecopias, she feels the car has better traction so I man-explained to her why the MPGs would drop with more traction. She completely blocked me. 😂

You went from a Eco-Focused Low Rolling Resistance tire to one that is more focused on overall driving performance.
Manufacturers put LRR tires on vehicles to help them meet CAFE standards.
Research LRR tires and you will get plenty of information

Why leave A "tried and true" Michelin. You've got warranty proration if they wear out early.
Does this hold true if the vehicle was bought brand new? We’ve had the tires rotated at the Honda dealer at each oil change.

Wife’s 25 Pilot Touring is needing new tires at 30k miles. The Michelin Primacy’s that came on it are at 4/32 all the way around and very noisy.

Strongly considering Michelin Defenders as I’ve had great luck with them on our previous Highlander.

Also looking at the Bridgestone Alenza Prestige (new tire as of 09/2025) with the 80k mile warranty.

Anything else I should strongly consider? We live in South Texas so snow/ice is not a concern.
18 or 20 inch tires? I'd go with the Pirelli Scorpion Verde. All season, and the tread is designed to be quieter. Might be worth a look.

As a general rule, No. Tires on new vehicles generally don't come with a treadwear warranty because the car manufacturer doesn't buy one, opting instead for a lower price.

But there are some exceptions. Read both the car warranty and the tire warranty found in the glovebox for details. The exceptions I know about are GM bumper to bumper warranty, Mercedes, and some Michelin tires.

Michelin warrants new car tires. Discount tire pro rated my oem Michelin tires. 'Course I bought a new set of Michelins. I was told that Michelin and Goodyear were the only tire companies that warrant new car tires. Best to buy new tires at Discount Tire as they rotate and fix flats free. If you're buying a new car, tell 'em you want one with Michelins on it. Hope this helps.

20 inche rims. We had a set of the Pirelli Scorpion Verdes on a 2015 Highlander. Pretty good overall fire. I’ve been looking at the Pirelli Scorpion A/S Plus 3 as well. It’s priced a lot better than Michelin!

Yep, this 2025 Pilot came with Michelin Primacy A/S. I generally have had good luck with Michelins (Defenders) but can’t say the same with these Primacy’s. 30k miles and they’re 4/32s all the way around.

That's typical for most LRR tires that come as original equipment on cars. Car manufacturers specify LRR tires to help them meet CAFE standards.

I’ve been looking at the Pirelli Scorpion A/S Plus 3 as well.
If you go to Pirelli’s website and look at the fine details of the Scorpion Zero AS Plus 3 and the P Zero AS Plus 3, it becomes readily apparent that they’re the same tire with different branding depending on whether it’s a “car” or “truck” service description. Tire Rack absolutely loved the P Zero AS Plus 3 when they tested it, and I have zero doubt that the high points they noted would translate into a heavier-duty tire, considering the fantastic customer reviews that the Scorpion has started to accumulate.

OEM Primacy Michelin tires are complete garbage.

Michelin Premier LTX on my wife's Highlander are worse - but both are garbage - her RDX came with Primacy.

I use to pay up for Michelin quality - after several disappointments with Michelin I have moved on.

When the Highlander needs tires - which will be around 15K miles at the rate these are wearing I will go Pirelli or Continental.

The last 2 sets of Defender - a Tahoe and an RDX were good tires but they wore out way faster than the prior Defender.

The Goodyear Wrangler Workhouse tires I put on the Tahoe a month ago were $152 each - Michelin was Defender $282.

I no longer think Michelin is worth the extra $$$$ - I am not saying all their tires are garbage - but some of them are and if you are paying a huge premium they better be a lot better.

I highly recommend looking at the Goodyear Weather Ready 2 for anybody considering the Michelin Cross Climate. I am VERY HAPPY with the Weather Ready 2's I put on my wife's Volvo.
I hear you. I'll add to your positive review.
I highly recommend looking at the Goodyear Wrangler Steadfast H/T for anyone considering the Michelin Defender or Michelin LTX M/S2 on their pickups and large SUVs.
I am very pleased with the Goodyear Wrangler Steadfast H/T. I believe that the incorporation of Kevlar in the tread will be beneficial.

This right here. 👆
Michelin are not worth the extra money.
Goodyear and Cooper will be on our vehicles from now on.
Same - Michelin’s chipped like crazy at 40k - Cooper did better …
Now I have Conti’s starting to chip at 26k …
So that’s likely Cooper time at 40k …

I was looking at the Workhorse HT for when the time comes for my Silverado. Seems the Steadfast has an additional 10,000 miles tread wear warranty. I really don't want an all terrain but I need snow traction to a small degree so still may have to look at an A/T.
