Came across this interesting video today on the difference between making $25k and $25 mill per year.
It's quite interesting how priorities change as the money increases.

These videos are dangerous to your mental health.
Why do you say that?

If anything, I think they are inspiring.
Allowing us to allocate our time and resources to moving ourselves forward.

For instance, over the past 10 years my life has changed in more ways than I could have imagined.
I could have followed the same destructive path of substance, alcohol (and various other forms of abuse) as my older family members etc. but decided to dig a little deeper...try to find connect the dots and find solutions to my problems.
As a result, I'm in a position that's allowed me to live a life I couldn't have dreamt of when I was in my 20s. It wasn't without challenges, but I feel more fulfilled through my journey.
🤷‍♂️

Yes. There are some untruths in there, taxes for one. $20K, you really aren't paying much income tax. And overall tax, $25Meg guy will pay more than $100K guy.

But inspiring in a way. Don't let the green monster eat you or system of Eeyore stop you.

I will also say I definitely think about my net worth now, income not so much even though I like the income.

Wasted my time skimming over this garbage, shouldn't even be allowed in here.
Work hard if you're not making it.
Keep your hands out of my pocket and stop promoting turning the USA into a socialist or communist country. Yeah right history is on my side. On top of it its being posted from a member in a more socialist country then ours.
Sick of this garbage and surprised this thread is here.

You realize a lot of American programs are socialized programs, right?

Public roads, library, the military, police, and any other public service you benefit from every single day.

Call them what you want, and yes we pay for those things and not a thing wrong with that. Not sure what the point is. Other things you didn't list don't work well. They have been trying since the 1930's for some, but really not until 1964 did the war on poverty start. Look at the effort at some kind of wealth distribution. Only results in what? More stratified and separated classes.

This thought that the collective we can somehow with will, thought, prayers, gov, force, free stuff army, magic poop monster, TV ads, you name it isms, taxes, etc we can do away with income disparity is just wrong and bad thinking.

There will always be poor people.
There will always be lazy people.

The answer is - well there is no answer. Freedom. Let it be.

The point is, we already have socialist programs. What's the difference?

Nobody thinks it'll be free. Nobody thinks any of the stuff you said is how it works. It works if everybody, especially rich people (let's say millionaires) who typically get away with it, pay their fair share in society.

There will always be income disparity and difference. But we can off set some issues like a better health care infrastructure, and better food help programs.

Idk why people think this is some radical issue.

I'm not saying people who make 200k a year should pay more in taxes. Many of us make 6 figures and pay plenty in taxes.

We could also move funds around. We have the biggest military in the world. We can move funds around and still have the biggest military while still helping poorer people, and not increasing taxes at all.

Huh?

No offense or anything but who told you "Nobody thinks it'll be free. Nobody thinks any of the stuff you said is how it works. It works if everybody, especially rich people (let's say millionaires) who typically get away with it, pay their fair share in society." ? That is nonsense.

Health care can be improved. But certainly not by the government.

You know there is plenty of food in the USA. NO one has to go without food. This really tells me you don't really know as much as you think you do. I have volunteered and worked with food distribution for many years. There is ALWAYS surplus food. I don't blame you for not knowing this. Most people don't. And that is for a very specific reason. You have a lot to learn about sources of "information".

Not sure what everyone is arguing about. I watched at least most of the vid. It did cover social programs for the low income person but I don;t recall the video advocating anything about more of them. Also talked about all the money rich people spend on frivolous things but said many rich people don't.

At worst at the end he says the system isn't working anymore - that if you work hard your supposed to move up - but the system isn't allowing that anymore. The data shows thats actually correct, and I agree with him. There are not many blue collar jobs anymore that allow for a person to live a middle class lifestyle - they were shipped to China amongst other places. If you don't agree then your head is buried in the sand.

Must be slow day on BITOG to be arguing over this?

There IS surplus of food. The issue isn't amount. It's access. Idk about your background, and you don't know mine. But there is a serious lack of infrastructure for those that don't have access to necessities. I don't believe every thing in this video but the data is out there and you have to make less than 20k (as a single person) to even qualify for food stamps. So 25k and you don't qualify. There's plenty of resources in the richest company but the infrastructure is not built to help those less fortunate because "this isn't a socialist country" 🙄. Living in and near Atlanta my whole life. I see both sides of the ultra wealthy and ultra poor. A lot is self inflicted. But there are people that make 30-40k that struggle and they never eat out or splurge. Imagine making 25k (12.50 per hour full time) and not having and way to get help. Thankfully there's some medical coverage for those people.

Agreed with your points. He didn't advocate for anything radical.

I am not disputing the video (see my first post) - as much as people's take - as in we have to do something........my point is really whenever we try to "do something", the problem gets worse.

And I am glad we realize that people working real jobs in a free economy is the answer, not giving stuff out. Giving other people's money away solves NOTHING and creates more problems. And no, the video is not straight out advocating that part of socialism.
