Just rolled 33k on this truck doing a 500 mile initial oil change then 5k interval from there. I decided to get a UOA on my 30k change to see if I had any bearing material showing up. My truck is technically outside the recall but there have been several failures outside the range so I wanted be sure. The oil sheared down a bit over 6K and I think I'll dump in some M1 EP 5w-30 next fill for the higher viscosity and HTHS. This truck is run hard on dirt and mountain roads pretty much daily. What's the verdict of the brain trust?

I would say that it's looking good. Wear metals are in the expected range; contamination is low; vis not out of line.

I would agree to perhaps bump up the vis if you're also going to extend the OCI out a bit, which appears to be doable.

I would also agree that you're going to want to keep doing UOAs, if only to track the metals in case of onset of the bearing issue. It would be good to have proof just in case you need help convincing them even though it's outside of the recall range (for now ....).

Everything is fine. Viscosity is holding. The oil could've gone longer.
