'22 Palisade, had to change the AGM battery today

I replaced the factory battery in wife's '18 Escape this past spring. She said the start/stop crap wasn't working. At 48% capacity (per the body control module), it didn't surprise me the battery was on its way out. It does sit a lot due to her job as she works a lot from home. Wallyworld didn't have the correct sized battery and I wasn't going to drive to another location. In went another OE battery from the stealership. I reset the BCM to relearn the new battery.

These days I fully charge the AGM battery in my 2024 Tucson once a month or two.
My home brew charger rig consists of a 12V 20AH LiFePO pack, a DC-DC converter set to 14.7V & 6A limit, a V-I display and a cord that plugs in the OBD port.
Put the pack in the drivers footwell, position the V-I display so I can see it through the window, close the car up,
check the charge current periodically, stop charging when the current stops falling.

Last time I replaced a battery it was proactively at 10 y.o. in my 2006 Toyota Matrix.
Sold my 2017 Tucson with the orig. bat. at 7 y.o., tested fine on an old school load tester.
I don't use start-stop on the 2024, so I expect a long bat. life.

Climate: Wash. DC region.

Speaking of AGMs, this was my fun yesterday. Being a contortionist really helps. Infrequent use is death for AGMs in new vehicles.
Main battery under the driver's seat, stop start under the passenger seat. Grand Cherokee.

Interesting. I thought that infrequent use is where the AGM batteries shine because they don’t lose their charge quickly.
