.22 magnum guns

I have an old Mossberg 640k .22 mag that shoots great. Trigger pull was awful though, I had a gunsmith fix that. You can pick them up at very reasonable prices if you watch the used gun racks. I also have a couple Ruger single six convertibles. I have one set up for LR and another for 22 mag. The mag is way too loud to shoot out of the 45/8 barrel without muffs, but it shoots very well. The .22mag will sure knock a fox squirrel out of a tree!

I haven't priced .22 mag ammo in a long time, but you could just about get .223 for the same price as .22mag back in the day.

That's why I never had any interest in one.

There is no way that any .22 long riflr is going to even come close to the same velocity of a .22 magnum. Even the Stinger, then its such a light bullet, it loses most of it shock value. A .22 mag, is a very powerful and fast shell. pistol or rifle. Not at all like its smaller cousin. (real world)

That's about the same price difference as it used to be. I used to be able to get Norico 5.56 for ~10 cents a round. And it was good stuff.

Those days are long gone!

I've got two little North American Arms revolvers. One a .22LR and one a .22mag. Neat little gun that you can hide in the front watch pocket in your jeans!

+1

My father-in-law has a Mossberg 640K "Chuckster" 22 Magnum bolt action rifle that I found for him online a few years ago. It was to replace one that he bought new in the mid-'60's that a relative conveniently misplaced while he was in the service. He was thrilled to find the replacement as it was like new even though it was over 40 years old.
