As I recall the Reagan administration did away with the 85MPH speedometer mandate in the early 80s. I don't know why the automakers continued to make cars with 85MPH speedometers until the early 90s.
I had an '86 Toyota with a 155mph speedometer.

Does Ford Financial offer fire insurance policies? It would be a good rider to add on to an existing policy for those people who put their Fords in a garage, or near anything for that matter.

Only if the person was an absolute retard and didn't get the recall done.

And Ford even managed to get their recall right the FIRST time!

The recall only covers up to '03.

And it's the SAME PART spanning 11 years of production.

REALLY?

My 1994 burnt to the ground in 1995. There was NO RECALL at that time..

Be careful who you call retard....

I was lucky it did not burn down my home or family.

And Ford did not get it "right" the first time. They were re-calling all through the 90's and 2000's for electrical problems.

Bill:

With all due respect, I am talking about NOW, not 1995. Your truck falls under the recall NOW. The recall spans 11 years.

I was not calling you a retard sir. Rather, if somebody has GOT the recall notice, IGNORES the recall notice and subsequently does NOT get the repair done, and then the vehicle burns down, it is their own bloody ignorance that dictated the outcome.

The cruise control recall has only had one revision. That was what I meant with my remark to getting it right the "first" time. They didn't replace the master cylinder first. And then discover cars still caught fire. Reprogram the ECM... then discover cars still caught fire. All the while TELLING the public that these were fixes for THAT problem.

Honda had no clue what was really causing the CR-V fires initially, and they seemed pretty honest about that. They THOUGHT it might be the fault of the mechanic doing the oil change, which ruffled some feathers, but there was no "oh this will fix it" statements made that later didn't.
