2026 BMW m340i 0W-12 Only?

Does the 2026 M340i have a GPF in North America? I just upgraded to a 2026 X5 40i and it does not have a GPF.

It seems that there are conflicting reports. Like some cars do some don’t. I really didn’t dig into it. Considering it is BMW, if they only list Low-SAPS oils and not LL01 as alternative, I assume they have.

1. As mentioned many times, fuel economy/CAFE. LL-04 includes 30 grades.

LL-04 also includes 40 grades.

I agree. My owners manual lists BMW Longlife-22 FE++ & BMW Longlife-01 FE and says the LL-22++ is not suitable for the 60i engine.

Thank you rollins...I had not seen this before and it is very enlightening.

As the other partcipants already pointed out in detals, certain limits (physical or chemical) may exclude given oil from a certain certfication (for example oil A of SAE xw-Y viscosity cannot even apply for a certain OEM cerification simply beacuse ...this particular viscosity is not permitted-and there are several OEM categ. like that. MB ones for example are very "tolerant" in that regard ) .

Yes. N63 engines can’t use LL17 and LL22.
Not sure dis they change something in regard to LL17 in N63, but if they do allow LL17 in N63, that is serious attempt to push boundaries. That means they are struggling with CAFE.
