CVT is a big turn off for me. But I have to say I don’t think the cx-50 sales are in the toilet because of the engines, they are in the toilet because the cx-50 is not an improved version of their best selling suv, the cx5.

At least it's an eCVT and not a regular CVT - there is no belt.

The cx50 is the same platform as the 3 and 30 which also has a torsen beam; which allowed the 3 to have AWD.

Yes, and the torsion beam is better for “off pavement” excursions, which is what they designed the CX50 to do. Compete with the Subie’s.

If this is Toyotas eCVT then this is nothing like a traditional cvt. Its 2 electric motors. These things are bulletproof and very low maintenance.
