2025 Lexus TX500h Oil Selection

Way too much stuff breaks between 50-100k miles on recent cars. That has been my experience.
That’s concerning. Nothing has broken that wasn’t a wear item on ours. If the quality of the vehicle is that bad it’s suspect. That said, anything breaking takes a lot of $$$, so it makes sense from that regard.

I just scratch my head over 2500 miles. Is the engine a problem? Does it sludge or fail cams?

What would the OLM put you at?

Toyota doesn't have an OLM.
I'm personally a little skeptical of TGDI engines, especially when paired with a hybrid system in short trip service. I'm sure I'll be proven wrong over the long-term, but until then, I'm erring on the side of caution by changing the oil more frequently.

That’s fair, going more frequently is reasonable. But 2500 miles is like, reversionary to the 1950s.

TGDI with start stop in a hybrid is a point of concern. But if it’s such a poor design that it requires 2500 mile ocis to resolve, there’s bigger issues. We’ve known about turbo oil coking in bearings and other such things that continuous start stop might create for at least 40 years now…. I think the start stop in a turbo drives the justification for a more robust oil, over excessively short oci, IMO. And to that end I’d argue it is one of the applications where the added oxidation resistance and performance of group IV/V is actually warranted.

Mobil 1 ESP 0W20 is API licensed for SP. Does it must have the Resource Conserving?
Mobil is claiming that the product meets the engine test requirements for SP, but API did not license the product.

I'm really late to the party apparently, but anyways.

I think those 6 month OCI's are a great idea. That has been what I've been doing with my Tacoma which is the non-hybrid T24A. I know color isn't really a good indicator of oil condition, but at nearly 3K on my interval it looks and smells (gassy) awful. And this was the "summer" oil change. I'm going with a 5w30, but I know that isn't what you want to do.

But, I've run a couple different 0w20's in the Camry with has a Dynamic Force engine as well. Castrol Edge (not the EP) so far has "sounded" the quietest. No real science or anything, just an observation.
