Hint-IF you didn't buy an extended warranty at time of purchase now is the time to do so. There are several GM Dealers that sell those online at competitive prices.
Stick with whatever oil GM is recommending at the moment. Don't mess with the warranty on a 75 grand SUV. Get all oil changes at the dealer.

My wife just bought her dream mommy mobile. She previously had a 2015 tahoe we are going to keep for my oldest girl to drive in a few years. My question is what's so special about that DEXOS 1 oil? Is there a better spec out there? I did all the maintenance on our 15 tahoe and a few years ago for simplicity I just quit buying the dexos oil and just started using 5w40 delvac 1 especially, which is what I use in all of my tractors, my tundra, and nissans. The tahoe has 90k miles on it and zero lifter tick. Immediately after switching to the 5w40 delvac 1 the engines got a lot quieter. Even the cold startup in my tundra went away. So I'm wondering what's the best oil for these 6.2l engines? I've never ran the 0w-20 and never will. One would think a little thicker is better.

When my engine blew on the highway in Massachusetts on the way to the Catskills, I lost forward visibility for 30 seconds and that's a long time. So there is a major driving safety aspect.
I steered slowly over to the breakdown lane until I was scraping the guard rail then I stopped. I was in the right hand lane, luckily.
Funny we just pick up a hitchhiker. She was a bit flustered.

I do have fun watching the tiny 5 foot 4 little blondie dock one of these at the Local Piggly Wiggly. Then leave her 12 year old daughter in in the front seat of that big black box playing on her smart phone with the windows up, engine running and AC blasting when its 68 degrees out.

A $118k sports car is only bought for one reason really. No one needs to drive 200 mph or corner fast. Maybe they've got 5 kids who play sports, and this is needed to haul kids and gear around. Why the hostility to curiosity?

The adjectives you use to describe it are subjective; there are both larger and more expensive vehicles available. Thanks to inflation, $118,000 holds no where near the value it did even 5 years ago.

In America, there is no limit on chassis or engine size, so they can DD a Mack truck if they so choose.

The reason I called out “Nesterenko” on that is because he asked an obviously loaded question. He disdainfully used a pejorative to describe it (tank) and, again, it’s none of his business why they choose to drive that SUV. What wasn’t said (but was implied), was, “nobody needs something that big”. It’s an attack on them for buying something large, luxurious, and not terribly efficient (comparatively).

I see your location is listed as “out west”. IDK where he lives, but here in the nashville suburbs, those (GM full size SUVs) are extremely popular. They used to call them “Texas Cadillacs”.
