You don't think GM is going to extend on these?Hint-IF you didn't buy an extended warranty at time of purchase now is the time to do so. There are several GM Dealers that sell those online at competitive prices.
Stick with whatever oil GM is recommending at the moment. Don't mess with the warranty on a 75 grand SUV. Get all oil changes at the dealer.
Now a days-with cellphones and AAA or other roadside assistance-a breakdown is a major inconvenience but not a disaster. Unless you are exploring in some of "The Great West".You don't think GM is going to extend on these?

My question is what's so special about that DEXOS 1 oil? Is there a better spec out there? I did all the maintenance on our 15 tahoe and a few years ago for simplicity I just quit buying the dexos oil and just started using 5w40 delvac 1 especially, which is what I use in all of my tractors, my tundra, and nissans. The tahoe has 90k miles on it and zero lifter tick. Immediately after switching to the 5w40 delvac 1 the engines got a lot quieter. Even the cold startup in my tundra went away. So I'm wondering what's the best oil for these 6.2l engines? I've never ran the 0w-20 and never will. One would think a little thicker is better.

In America, there is no limit on chassis or engine size, so they can DD a Mack truck if they so choose.
The reason I called out “Nesterenko” on that is because he asked an obviously loaded question. He disdainfully used a pejorative to describe it (tank) and, again, it’s none of his business why they choose to drive that SUV. What wasn’t said (but was implied), was, “nobody needs something that big”. It’s an attack on them for buying something large, luxurious, and not terribly efficient (comparatively).
I see your location is listed as “out west”. IDK where he lives, but here in the nashville suburbs, those (GM full size SUVs) are extremely popular. They used to call them “Texas Cadillacs”.
