2024 Honda Prologue EV Previewed

I highly doubt any Honda dealer will proactively share with buyers its basically a GM. I'm guessing even if you asked about the partnership most sales folks wouldn't have a clue what you are talking about unless they were a car buff that followed the industry.
And the proof is, dealers never told customers the 1st gen Passport was an Isuzu Rodeo. Don't recall any advertisements pointing that out either...

They found out when they had problems and Honda wouldnt take care of them. Happened to an employee of mine who's sworn off Honda since.

Wait, what? where is the gm partnership in this? admittedly, I recently rode in a bolt EV and found it to be very well executed indeed, but if I’m paying Honda money then I’m going to be very interested in getting honda engineering. I wouldn’t exclude it; GM has had some good advancements lately and has more time with BEVs at this point than Honda, but yeah, I’d like to know…

Found stuff. read stuff. Battery and motor tech seems to be what comprises the “ultium” platform, not the whole chassis. I’m ok with that. Having isuzu rodeo/passport flashbacks there for a second. not that the rodeo wasn’t a good vehicle - they were quite likeable, but they were not built with the same precision and solidness as the honda products of the time.

If ultium were actually proven it might mean something, but there is so much we dont know.

I'm very curious to see how it handles cabin HVAC during high speed charging in hot and cold weather, 10-80% curve, long term degradation...

Getting close to production

Looks great - hope it performs and cost what it's supposed to - the cheap Silverado's vanished upon delivery

We've been awaiting a long time to see this car and are still waiting.

Now there is even more pressure on the line with it underpinning a honda chassis.

The more I see this the more simple it looks and that's a great thing.

The short looks fantastic all kitted out like that -and it looks like the typically great paint I get from GM nice and thick.

some stuff I dont like -

The black plastic wheel accents/fender will turn streaky cloudy white over time.

The rear wiper will give short life in the hotter states - the ones tucked above into the upper spoiler are the
standard high end now.

I dont like the trim pieces in hatch and rear windows especially black trim pieces in super hot climate Im in.
My lexus starting losing them at year 15 and I couldn't get them replaced.

Make this dual motor, 140mph top speed, 375-425hp, SHAWD, and facelift the interior and exterior and put it into the role of Acura RDX-S with 275+mi epa range, and I'd be looking at it real interested like!

The 2025 Acura ZDX Type-S will probably be 500+ HP AWD. Same chassis as Prologue - likely closer to Cadillac LYRIQ AWD spec which is 500 HP / 307 mile range.

The problem with the Lyriq is that it's absurdly heavy. That 500hp motivates it to a 0-60 in over 4 and a half seconds. The RDX class needs to be sub 5,000#.

NVM. I just googled the Prologue. It is huge for a 2-row SUV. My EV6 GT has a ton of room in the 2nd row and it has a 114" wheel base. Prologue is 121". The Honda Pilot has a just under 114" wheel base. The Prologue literally has a wheelbase longer than an Escalade. How is it a 2 row? They need a more compact EV for the RDX slot. This can fill the ZDX spot and replace the MDX.

I love new tech, and forward looking innovation, but I don't care if it is an ICE or EV, I'm not buying a car that looks like they stuck two ipads on the dash. How in the H-E-double hockey sticks are people ok with this look?

Outside =BLAH. Honda always manages to make everything as bland as possible. No way those wide, sticky tires will make it into production...and probably a smaller rim and fatter sidewall to appease the older market.

Looks like the cross between a newer Jeep Cherokee and the smaller Range Rover...taking the most bland from both.

I'll take a Maytag on isle 5 please...and make sure it is white, and quiet, and boring...
Your analogy of iPads’ is exactly how I feel. When I first looked at the photos, that hit me straight in the face. It’s like they completed designing the dash and then realized they forgot the displays and just glued them on.

The long wheelbase is somewhat explained by the pictures- the wheels are pushed as far out as they can, which is wonderful for handling.

agree, plastic-bezeled iPads on the dash would be a slap in the face on where these will likely be priced.

I really like the lines, the dimensions. I am suspicious that it still could be a little large.

us plebes would really appreciate an affordable version with reasonable ICE-like acceleration numbers and decent range. my house doesn’t need 3.2 second 0-60. We do need range.

How far is your daily commute that 200mi or so won't get it done?
